This particular container has a beautiful design from India or the Middle East. And the design is exquisite. It is marked at the bottom with unknown signs to me. It is however coated with silver dust The top portion unscrews so you can fill the base with the liquid.
In the Middle East and India, it is customary to eat with your fingers, all food. These types of containers are used for sprinkling on your hands after a meal. It would clean and leave a nice scent. After much use, the silver dust coating would wear off and you would go to the silversmith and have him re-coat to look like new again. This one looks like it was made by hand. Very ornate. I guess here in the west you could use it to scent your home. It will surely make a good conversation piece! Stands 9 3/4" high by 3 1/4" wide at the base.
